A little slice of paradise facing Isla Blanca Lagoon.

One of the best spots for kiteboarding in Mexico, and the only hotel facing the lagoon with everything you need to come learn or practice this awesome sport.


Wind season is from November to the end of May; in the summer it is an ideal place to enjoy nature, spend the afternoon swimming in the pool and the lagoon, or practice outdoor activities such as kayaking, paddle boarding, or sport fishing.

Located in front of the lagoon, Ikarus Sunset Bar offers a delicious variety of dishes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with affordable prices and an incredible view.


You'll find everything from Mexican food to the chef's Italian specialties, as well as vegan and vegetarian options. We also offer alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages to accompany every moment.

Isla Blanca and its activities.


The Isla Blanca Lagoon is a huge, shallow saltwater lagoon surrounded by beautiful mangroves and crystal clear waters of the Mexican Caribbean. 


Kiteboarding 

Its characteristics make it one of the best places in the world to learn or practice kiteboarding. At Ikarus, we have more than 20 years of experience and thousands of students teaching kiteboarding.

Our classes are of the highest quality, with special equipment, highly experienced instructors, and jet ski assistance in all lessons to make your classes a once-in-a-lifetime experience.


Fly fishing Sport fishing 

The lagoon is also a great place for sport fishing, especially fly fishing for tarpon, snook, and palometa in the mangroves and flats. So, if you like fishing, you can have a great day fishing with experienced local guides. Tours last from 4 to 7 hours, depending on your preference.

Secret spot Kite tour (This is a secret spot at the mouth of Isla Blanca Lagoon that can only be reached by boat.)

In Isla Blanca Lagoon, you can also find different guided tours.

Speedboat tour 

Adventure tours visiting places such as 

El Manatí Lagoon (a lagoon with giant mangroves where you can see crocodiles and birds)

Boca Iglesias (ancient ruins of the first church in Mexico hidden among mangroves)

NEARBY BEACHES AND PLACES TO VISIT


The Isla Blanca area has incredible beaches and landscapes. Here are some that you can't miss during your visit!


Hidden Beach: ideal for swimming and sunbathing (less than a 5-minute walk away, you will find this beautiful beach. To get there, walk to the main street, turn left, and then take the first right. You will come to a gate, and to the left of the gate, you will find the entrance to walk in). 


Playa de la Punta: This is a very large beach where you will find the sea on one side and the lagoon on the other. The lagoon side is ideal for kiteboarding and watching the sunset, and the sea side is ideal for swimming or sunbathing (a 10-minute walk to get there, you will have to walk to the main street, then turn left and walk to the end of the street, and you will arrive).


Ruins of El Meco: If you want to learn a little about Mayan culture without having to go too far, less than 20 minutes away by car are the archaeological ruins of El Meco, which are small but very beautiful.




1 Dangers and precautions

The Isla Blanca area is a very safe place, but there are always some precautions that are good to be aware of.


Chechén tree:

A toxic plant that can irritate or burn the skin.

It can be identified by its dark trunk and small leaves.

✅ Do not touch or approach it.


Insects

•Mosquitoes: Although Ikarus is fumigated daily, there are days when mosquitoes may appear at dawn and dusk, so we recommend that you do not leave doors or windows open.


Scorpions: not poisonous, sting similar to a bee. (It is advisable to check your shoes before putting them on.) 


Sun and dehydration (very important)


 • Wear a hat and sunscreen.

 • Drink enough water.
